Investigation of the surface heterogeneity of maximally hydroxylated non-porous silica by gas adsorption

Abstract

The adsorptive surface heterogeneity of maximally hydroxylated non-porous silica is investigated by examining the absolute nitrogen and argon isotherms determined by Aristov and Kiselev. The results obtained using the “patchwise” heterogeneity model demonstrate the contrast in the adsorptive potential energy fields experienced by the two adsorbates.
