Model of polarisable spheres: a reappraisal

Abstract

In a further development of the model of polarisable spheres the potential at the surface of the central ion is allowed to become continuous. Inconsistencies in the previous formulation are thereby avoided, without substantial alteration of the results for activity coefficients.
