The chemistry of cyclopentadienyl nitrosyl and related complexes of molybdenum. Part 9. Reactions of bis(cyclopentadienyl) complexes with dienophilic acetylenes and olefins
Abstract
Reaction of [Mo(C5H5)2I(NO)] with F3CC
CCF3 and (NC)2C
C(CN)2 affords [Mo(η5-C5H5){C7H5(CF3)2}I(NO)] and [Mo(η5-C5H5)I{C7H5(CN)4}I(NO)], respectively. Treatment of [Mo(η5-C5H5)(σ-C5H5)(NO)(η2-S2CNMe2)] with RC
CR (R = CF3 or CO2Me), (NC)2C
C(CN)2, and maleic anhydride gives [Mo(η5-C5H5){C7H5R2}(NO)(η2-S2CNMe2)], [Mo(η5-C5H5){C7H5(CN)4}(NO)(η2-S2CNMe2)] and [Mo(η5-C5H5){C7H5(CO)2O}(NO)(η2-S2CNMe2)]. In all of these complexes the acetylene or olefin has added in a Diels–Alder fashion to a cyclopentadienyl group, and in the first complex the F3CC
CCF3 group is probably co-ordinated to the metal.
