Co-condensation reactions of uranium tetrafluoride and hexafluoride with alkali metals and alkali-metal fluorides in low-temperature argon matrices

Abstract

The compounds UF4 and UF6, co-condensed with various alkali metals and alkali-metal fluorides, have provided i.r. spectroscopic evidence for the formation of MUF4, MUF5, MUF6, M2UF6, and MUF7 species. The bands are discussed in terms of the anion symmetry and the interactions between the alkali-metal and uranium ions.
