Solid-state studies. Part 11. The vibrational spectra of mixed crystals of tricarbonyl(η-mesitylene)-chromium, -molybdenum, and -tungsten in the 2 000 cm–1 region

Abstract

Although [Cr(C6H3Me3-1,3,5)(CO)3] is not isomorphous with the corresponding molybdenum and tungsten complexes, all these complexes form an apparently continuous range of mixed crystals having the structure of the molybdenum–tungsten species. All the ν(CO) modes show one-mode behaviour. All the other modes, with the probable exception of lattice modes, show two-mode behaviour.
