Laser fluorescence measurements of Hg(3P0) quenching rates

Abstract

The concentration of Hg(3P0) was monitored in a repetitively pulsed system by measuring the intensity of 546.1 nm fluorescence that accompanied laser excitation at 404.7 nm. Quenching rates were calculated from Hg(3P0) decay rates in mixtures of quencher gases with nitrogen. The results compare well with previous values in the literature.
