Sodium diphenylketyl alkylation by chiral electrophilic reagents

Abstract

Sodium diphenylketyl reacts with 1-methylheptyl bromide and mesylate with partial inversion of configuration; these results agree with a mechanism involving SN2 and electron transfer reactions in competition.
