Phenylsulphenyl-lactonization: an easy and synthetically useful lactonization procedure

Abstract

Certain unsaturated carboxylic acids react with benzene sulphenyl chloride in the presence of triethylamine to afford phenylsulphenyl-lactones, a new class of synthetically useful intermediates.
