The chemistry of fungi. Part LXXIII. Some derivatives of 5-ethyl-2,5-dimethylcyclohexanone
Abstract
Methylation of the pyrrolidine enamine of (±)-3-ethyl-3-methylcyclohexanone yields a mixture of the geometrical isomers, (±)-5-ethyl-trans- and (±)-5-ethyl-cis-2,5-dimethylcyclohexanone. The earlier suggestion that the second methylation product was (±)-3-ethyl-2,3-dimethylcyclohexanone is incorrect. These cis- and trans-cyclohexanones have been separated and characterised. The corresponding cyclohexanols have been prepared.
