Viscosity of aqueous solutions of TlNO3, Tl2SO4 and TlOH at 25°C

Abstract

The B-coefficient of the thallous ion has been determined by measuring the viscosities of TlNO3, Tl2SO4 and TlOH solutions and making allowance for the formation of ion pairs. The value found, –0.017 dm3 mol–1, is close to what might be expected on consideration of the standard absolute entropy of the thallous ion. Values of the B-coefficients of the TlSO4, TlOH and TlNO3 ion pairs are shown to be very similar to those of the corresponding free ions.
