Examination of a transference number anomaly: 0.02 mol dm–3 aqueous sodium chloride at 25°C
Abstract
The cation transference numbers of aqueous NaCl in the literature are not well fitted by the Onsager–Fuoss and Pitts theories, with the point at 0.02 mol dm–3 deviating so much that experimental error has been suspected. The literature value has now been confirmed by cation and anion moving boundary measurements over a range of currents and indicator concentrations.
