Studies of the alkylaluminium tetrahydroborates: the ethyl, n-propyl, and isobutyl derivatives
Abstract
The preparation and properties of Al(BH4)Et2, Al(BH4)2Et, Al(BH4)2Prn, and Al(BH4)2Bui are described. The compounds are monomeric in the vapour phase, ignite spontaneously in air, and in general the Al(BH4)2R compounds are the more stable with respect to disproportionation. The spectroscopic properties (including the 27Al n.m r. spectra), reactions with diethyl ether, and various redistribution reactions of the new compounds are reported.
