The reaction of NaC2B7H12 with [MCI(PR3)3](M = Rh, Ir; R = Ar) and [RuHCI(PPh3)3] produced the closo-metallocarbaboranes 6,6-(PR3)2-6,2,3-MC2B7H9 and 6,6-(PPh3)2-6,2,3-RuC2B7H9 respectively; similar reaction of [IrCI(PPh3)3] with NaC2B8H11 produced the complex 1,1-(PPh3)2-1-H-1,2,4-IrC2B8H10.
