Synthesis and reactions of β-hydroxyhydroperoxides

Abstract

Acid-catalysed reaction of epoxides with 98% H2O2 yields β-hydroxyhydroperoxides, which react with trifluoroacetic anhydride or dicyclohexylcarbodi-imide to give carbonyl compounds.
