Transition metal complexes containing the bis(trifluoromethyl)nitroxy ligand

Abstract

Stable IrIII and PtII complexes containing the ligand (CF3)2NO have been obtained by oxidative addition of the radical (CF3)2NO· to IrI and Pt0 compounds and by metathetical chlorine atom exchange using Hg[ON(CF3)2]2; (CF3)2NONa reacts with the cations [M(CO)(MeCN)(PPh3)2]+(M = Rh or Ir) to afford the IrI and RhI complexes [M(CO){(CF3)2NO}(PPh3)2], and with the PtIIcations [PtX(CO)L2]+(X = Cl, Br; L = PPh3: X = Cl, L = AsPh3) to give the compounds of type [PtX{CO·ON(CF3)2}L2].
