Mechanism of the reaction of cytosine with hydroxylamines

Abstract

Kinetic and stereochemical studies are cited to support the proposal of a novel mechanism for the formation of 4-(alkoxyimino)-6-(alkoxyamino)tetrahydropyrimidin-2(1H)-ones from cytosine (I) and hydroxylamines (II).
