Metallation of an aliphatic carbon–hydrogen bond: synthesis and X-ray structure of [PtCl(PBut2CH2CMe2CH2)]2

Abstract

The reaction of [PtCl2(NCPh)2] with (Me3C·CH2)-PBut2 provides [PtCl(PBut2CH2CMe2CH2)]2, a binuclear complex characterised by X-ray diffraction methods as containing metallated neopentyl groups.
