Photoracemization at a chiral pyramidal nitrogen centre

Abstract

The absorption of u.v. light by chiral oxaziridines having a stable pyramidal nitrogen configuration results in photoracemization via a mechanism involving C–O bond cleavage and a nitrone intermediate.
