Dimeric bis(nonafluoro-t-butoxy)beryllium and some of its co-ordinatio complexes

Abstract

Bis(nonafluoro-t-butoxy)beryllium, [{[(CF3)3CO]2Be}2], prepared from (CF3)3COH and Et2Be, is dimeric in C6F6 and is thermally stable well above its melting point. The abnormally weak bridge Be–O bond results in fission t dlethyl ether yielding monomeric [{(CF3)3CO}2Be]·OEt2. Complexes [Be{(CF3)3CO}2L2](L = ammonia or pyridine) are also described.
