Mössbauer spectroscopy of hexa-ammineiron(II) nitrate, thiocyanate, and sulphate

Abstract

Compounds of the type [Fe(NH3)6]X2(X = NO3 or SCN; X2= SO4) have been investigated between 4·2 and 340 K using the 57Fe Mössbauer effect. The experiments suggest two-phase transitions occurring in the nitrate and possibly the thiocyanate which are determined by hindrance to the motion of the NH3, NO3, and SCN groups.
