Photochemical reaction of 2,2,4,4-tetramethylpentan-3-imine [But2CNH) with triethylborane: a photo-reaction sensitized by conjugated dienes

Abstract

Photolysis in the cavity of an e.s.r. spectrometer of hydrocarbon solutions of Bu^t₂CNH and BEt₃ at temperatures below –10 °C gives ethyl radicals and the radical Bu^t₂ĊNHBEt₂(2); the formation of (2) is sensitized by the addition of conjugated dienes.
