Acid-catalysed decomposition of βγ-unsaturated diazomethyl ketones: a new cyclopentenone annelation

Abstract

The acid-catalysed decomposition of the un-saturated diazomethyl ketones (13) leads to the cyclo-pentenone derivatives (46), respectively; this reaction, in conjuction with the Reformatsky addition-dehydra-tion sequence, leading to βγ-unsaturated acids, repre-sents a new cyclopentenone annelation scheme.
