Monomer–dimer equilibration of water-soluble porphyrins as a function of the co-ordinated metal ion

Abstract

Tetrakis-(4-sulphophenyl)porphyrin and its four co-ordinate metal complexes dimerize, while the five- or six-ligated metalloporphyrins are monomers in aqueous, electrolyte-containing solutions.
