Hydrogen–deuterium exchange in 2-thiabicyclo[2.2.1]heptane derivatives

Abstract

The rate constants for deuterium exchange of protons α to the sulphinyl or sulponyl group in the 2-thiabicyclo-[2.2.1]heptane derivatives (1)–(6) were determined in MeONa–MeOD at 100°. Electronic and steric effects on the facility of carbanion formation in these systems and the stereochemistry of exchange are discussed.
