Electronic spectroscopy of mercury(II) halides in some non-aromatic organic solvents

Abstract

The absorption spectra of the mercury(II) halides in some saturated, unsaturated and cyclic hydrocarbons as well as in dioxan and 1,2-dichloroethane have been measured. Possible interactions between the halides and some of the solvents were examined. The correlations presented indicate that interactions of the “contact” charge-transfer type apparently exist in these solutions.
