Interaction of lithium salts with amides. Part 1.—Ultrasonic relaxation

Abstract

An ultrasonic relaxation process observed in solutions of LiCl in NN-dimethylacetamide(DMA) is attributed to the formation of solvated ion pairs; no such relaxation is found in solutions of LiClO4 in DMA. In the three-component system LiCl + DMA + water an additional equilibrium is present involving hydrated lithium cations and chloride anions; no relaxation is observed if LiCl is replaced by LiClO4
