Dielectric relaxation studies in some monomer acrylates

Abstract

The dielectric permittivity (ε′) and loss factor (ε″) of methyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate and ethyl methacrylate are reported at frequencies: 1 MHz, 900 MHz, 8.40 GHz, 12.22 GHz and 70.85 GHz, at 30°C, 40°C, 50°C, 60°C and 70°C. Plots of ε′ against ε″ are skewed arcs, and are discussed in terms of the Davidson–Cole approach. The activation energy is evaluated assuming dielectric relaxation to be a rate process.
