Reaction of some fluorocarbon bisphosphines with iron carbonyl complexes
Abstract
Reaction of the bisphosphines [(CF3)2P]2E with Fe(CO)2(NO)2 and Fe2(CO)9 gives the complexes Fe(CO)(NO)2[(CF3)2PEP(CF3)2](E = O, S, and Se) and Fe(CO)4[(CF3)2PEP(CF3)2](E = O and S) respectively all of which have unidentate bisphosphine ligands co-ordinated through phosphorus. With Fe2(CO)9, the selenide gives a binuclear complex, Fe2(CO)6P2(CF3)4Se, which appears to have a five-membered Fe2P2Se ring. The action of[(CF3)2P]2O upon [(π-C5H5) Fe(CO)2]2 yields (π-C5H5)2Fe2(CO)3P2(CF3)4O as the major product, whereas the sulphide and selenide give (π-C5H5)Fe(CO)2P(CF3)2 together with (π-C5H5)Fe(CO)2P(E)(CF3)2(E = S or Se).
