Preparation and characterisation of some niobium and tantalum penta-alkoxide co-ordination complexes

Abstract

The first isolated niobium pentamethoxide complexes Nb(OMe)5,L (I; L = pyridine, γ-picoline, morpholine, hydrazine, trimethylamine oxide, and hexamethylphosphoramide) are reported, together with Ta(OMe)5,N2H4. N.m.r. and i.r. spectra are discussed in terms of formation of octahedral six-co-ordinate niobium complexes. In these complexes hydrazine behaves as a unidentate ligand.
