Structure of a heptacarboxylic porphyrin enzymically derived from porphobilinogen

Abstract

A porphyrin heptacarboxylic acid, probably identical with phyriaporphyrin-III, is isolated and evidence from 13C-n.m.r. and synthetic studies shows that it has structure (10); general synthetic methods are outlined.
