Photo-induced insertion of tungsten into a methyl C–H bond in p-xylene and mesitylene: crystal structure of (η-C5H5)2W[CH2(3,5-Me2C6H3)]2

Abstract

Irradiation of a mesitylene solution of the dihydride (η-C5H5)2WH2 with a mercury lamp (366 nm) gives the bis-alkyl derivative (η-C5H5)2W[CH2(3,5-Me2C6H3)]2.
