Stereochemical course of hydroxylation of dopamine by dopamine-β-hydroxylase (EC1.14.17.1)

Abstract

(2R)-, and (2S)-[2-3H1]Dopamines are synthesised having high configurational purity; they are used to prove that hydroxylation of dopamine to yield noradrenalin occurs with retention of configuration.
