Cyclic diether lipids from very thermophilic acidophilic bacteria

Abstract

In acidophilic bacteria growing at up to 89°, the lipids are based on cyclic glycerol diethers [part-structure (I)]; the contribution of this structure-type to membrane stability is considered.
