Relative position of the transition states in the protonation of enamines and enol ethers. Orbital bias

Abstract

Contrary to previous reports the stereoselectivity of the deuteriation of enamines is low and is indicative of a reactant-like transition state; enol ethers show a greater preference for axial deuterium incorporation.
