Formation of a tungsten-substituted quarternary phosphonium derivative by an unexpected route

Abstract

Treatment of the ethylenemethyl compound [(π-C5H5)2W(C2H4)Me]+ PF6 with dimethylphenylphosphine gives the compound [(π-C5H5)2W(CH2PMe2Ph)H]+ PF6 in ca. 40% yield.
