Spectrophotometric determination of organophosphorus pesticides with 4-(4-nitrobenzyl)pyridine

Abstract

A spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of certain organophosphorus pesticides. It involves the reaction of 4-(4-nitrobenzyl)pyridine with the pesticide in an acetone-water-ethanol mixture at 100 °C to produce the dye precursor. The colour is produced after the addition of tetraethylenepentamine.
