Enthalpy of mixing of n-hexane and cyclohexane

Abstract

The enthalpy of mixing (HE) was measured for the liquids n-hexane and cyclohexane at 298.03 K. HE was corrected to 298.15 K for comparison with the results of other workers. The values of HE are well established with an uncertainty of about ± 1.5 J mol–1 by the several sets of recent measurements. In view of the reproducibility of these measurements and of the small temperature-coefficient, this system can be recommended as an international standard for checking mixing calorimeters.
