Reactions of vanadium(V) oxide tribromide: preparation and properties of vanadium(IV) oxide dibromide complexes

Abstract

The reactions of VOBr3 with a variety of ligands are reported. The following complexes have been prepared, and their structure studied: VOBr2(L–L)(where L–L = 1,2-dimethoxyethane or 2,2′-bipyridyl). VOBr2L2, (where L = tetrahydrofuran, 1,4-dioxan, hexamethylphosphoramide, pyridine, quinoline, triphenylphosphine, 1,4-thioxan, and tetrahydrothiophen), VOBr2L3(where L = diphenyl sulphoxide or pyridine), and VOBr2L5(where L = dimethyl sulphoxide).
