The nitrosyl ligand as an oxidant

Abstract

Carbon monoxide reacts with the cationic nitrosyl [Ir(NO)2(Ph3P)2+] to produce CO2 and N2O; tertiary phosphines (R3P) react similarly to yield R3PO and N2O.
