Spectrochemical study of aminoiminomethanesulphinic acid and related NN′-substituted derivatives

Abstract

Aminoiminomethanesulphinic acid and some related NN′-substituted derivatives have been prepared and characterized by i.r. and 1H n.m.r. spectroscopy. The presence of strong hydrogen bonds has been observed; values of force constants, bond orders, and O–Ŝ–O angles have been measured. The assignment of all 1H n.m.r. resonances has allowed full characterization of these compounds. In particular a conformational study of o-tolylamino-o-tolyliminomethanesulphinic acid and salt in [2H]trifluoroacetic acid–[2H]chloroform has been accomplished.
