2,3-Dihydroquinolin-4(1H)-ones. Part I. Halogen-substituted 2,3-dihydroquinolin-4(1H)-ones and their 1-(2-acylethyl) derivatives

Abstract

Synthesis of five 6- or 8-halogen-substituted 2,3-dihydroquinolin-4(1H)-ones and their 1-acetyl derivatives are described. The 6-substituted compounds reacted with suitable Mannich bases to yield 1-(2-arenoylethyl) derivatives but 8-substituted compounds were unchanged under the same conditions. 1H N.m.r. and u.v. spectra of some of the compounds are recorded.
