The preparation and properties of several metal complexes (Mg, Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, and Zn) of octamethyltetrabenzporphyrin are described. Experiments concerning the mode of formation of these compounds from 1,3,4,7-tetra-methylisoindole are discussed.
