Germanium arsines
Abstract
The new germanium arsines GeH3AsMe2, (GeH3)2AsMe, (Me3Ge)2AsMe, GeH3AsPh2, (GeH3)2AsPh, Me3GeAs-Ph2, (Me3Ge)2AsPh, Me2Ge(AsMe2)2, MeGe(AsMe2)3, (Me3Ge)2AsH, and Me2Ge(AsH2)2 and the previously reported Me3GeAsMe2 have been prepared by various methods. The highest yields were obtained by exchange reactions with silylarsines. Good yields were obtained by use of lithium arsenides and lithium arsinoaluminates and by the reaction of arsines with germanium amines whereas the triethylamine-induced removal of hydrogen halide from an arsine and a germanium halide gave poor yields. The reaction of germylarsine with lithium tetrahydroaluminate was too complex to lead to a synthetic route to germylarsinoaluminates. The reactions of Me3GeAsMe2 with methyl, silyl, and stannyl halides and the thermal decomposition of some GeH and AsH containing germanium arsines were studied.
