Carbon compounds of the transition metals. Part XXIV. The crystal and molecular structure of pentacarbonyl[methyl(phenylthio)carbene]-chromium
Abstract
The crystal structure of the title compound, the first reported of a carbene complex with sulphur as hetero-substituent, shows an octahedral molecule similar to other carbene complexes of chromium. The crystals are monoclinic, space-group P21/c, with Z= 4 in a unit cell of dimensions: a= 10·236(4), b= 6·152(3), c= 23·340(6)Å, and β= 103·00(2)°. After refinement with anisotropic temperature parameters, the Cr–C(carbene), S–C(carbene), and S–C(Ph) distances are 2·020(3), 1·690(3), and 1·781(3)Å respectively.
