Nuclear magnetic resonance study of intramolecular hydrogen bonding in halogeno(diethylthiourea)zinc(II) complexes

Abstract

Variable-temperature n.m.r. spectra of mixed complexes of ZnII with sulphur-bonded diethylthiourea and halogens (Cl, Br, and I) have been recorded in the range +30 to –90 °C. The measurements clearly show the presence in acetone solution of intramolecular -NH ⋯ X interactions. Hydrogen bonding to the solvent is evident at low temperature.
