The chemistry of nitroso-compounds. Acid-catalysed decomposition of N-n-butyl-N-nitrosoacetamide–an unusual slow proton transfer to nitrogen

Abstract

The decomposition of N-n-butyl-N-nitrosoacetamide at 25° involves both deamination and denitrosation; for the latter pathway, proton transfer to the amide-nitrogen is rate-limiting.
