Photoelectron spectra and molecular properties of trans-dihalogenoethylenes: substituent effects spin-orbit coupling

Abstract

The photoelectron spectra of trans-dihalogenoethylenes are assigned considering spin-orbit coupling and allow unambiguos estimates of inductive, conjugative, and hyperconjugative contributions of the halogen substituent effects.
