A computer method for the spectrophotometric determination of overlapping pKa values

Abstract

A least-squares computer method has been developed to obtain two pKa values from spectrophotometric data in instances when the values are so close together that the calculations usually applied for individual pKa values are not appropriate. A scaling procedure improves the condition of the matrix that is constructed in solving the sets of simultaneous equations. Two examples of applications of the method are given.
