The chemistry of terpenes. Part II. The synthesis and deamination of the stereoisomeric 3-aminopinanes
Abstract
Preparative routes to the previously unknown 3α-amino-2βH- and 3β-amino-2αH-pinane are described. The products of the deamination of these compounds, together with those obtained from 3β-amino-2βH- and 3α-amino-2αH-pinane have been identified by g.l.c. and spectroscopy. The deamination products and their relative yields are best rationalised in terms of the intermediacy of unsolvated classical ions.
