Studies in mycological chemistry. Part XXVII. Reinvestigation of the structure of purpurogenone, a metabolite of Penicillium purpurogenum Stoll

Abstract

The spectral and other properties of purpurogenone, a metabolite of Penicillium purpurogenum Stoll, whose structure has been recently elucidated as (1; R = H) by X-ray crystallographic analysis of its monobromoacetate (1; R = OC·CH2Br), are reported. A previously suggested structure is thus disproved.
